Sudbury Historic Districts Commission defers appointment until second applicant interviewed

SUDBURY — February 2, 2023 — Sudbury's Historic Districts Commission interviewed one applicant for three open seats and deferred any recommendation to March. Construction manager Peter Iovanella, a six-month Sudbury resident on Dutton Road in the Wayside Inn Historic District, told the panel his work with landmarks commissions in New York City and Boston shaped his view that preservation boards "are there for a reason, and rightfully so." Chair Anuraj Shah, Vice Chair Taryn Trexler, and members Christopher Hagger and Jordan Fox questioned him on climate retrofits, window replacements and additions to historic homes; Iovanella said he would accept an associate seat if not chosen as full member. The commission approved its Jan. 5 minutes 4-0, set a June joint meeting with the Historical Commission, and tasked Trexler with drafting a consultant RFP for new design guidelines, with a district-boundary review targeted for September.
