Sudbury HDC continues Hosmer House cedar-roof hearing to May 1

SUDBURY — April 3, 2025 — Sudbury Historic Districts Commission advances Hosmer House cedar-roof redesign and adds an associate member. The commission voted 5-0 April 3 to continue Case 24-29 at 299 Old Sudbury Road to May 1 after Combined Facilities Director Andrew Wrang and Andrew Barr of SOCOTEC presented a revised plan using cedar shingles over a cedar breather, with seven inches of blown-in cellulose plus four inches of polyiso in the attic floor yielding roughly R-49. Chair Anuraj Shah called the redesign "definitely on the right track." The commission also approved Jeld-Wen all-wood casement windows at 181 Dutton Road 4-0 (member John Noble abstaining), conditionally approved two black aluminum signs for Reformed by Pilates at 383 Boston Post Road 5-0, and unanimously appointed Shervin Hawley as associate member. Property owner Danny Murphy was told to document evidence challenging the 248 Concord Road cottage's MACRIS-based historic significance before any reopening of the prior demolition denial.
