Sudbury FinCom reelects co-chairs, approves $220,000 snow deficit transfer

SUDBURY — June 5, 2023 — Sudbury Finance Committee reelects co-chairs and clears $220,000 snow deficit transfer at organizational meeting. Co-Chairs Michael Joachim and Eric D. Poch were reelected unanimously for fiscal 2024, the fourth year under the co-chair model, with new members Ryan Lynch and Maura Cardi sworn in. The committee voted 8-0 to transfer $220,000 from its $300,000 reserve fund to offset a $479,699 snow and ice deficit, with Finance Director Dennis Keohane saying DPW will absorb the remaining roughly $30,000 through staff-vacancy savings. Member Henry P. Sorett previewed a fiscal 2025 agenda including cybersecurity insurance, privatization of payroll and ambulance service, and the proposed sewer project, which he called "likely the largest single capital expenditure program ever contemplated by the town." The committee also agreed to publicly post its Capital Improvement Advisory Committee seat rather than reappoint incumbent Susan Chaffey without notice.
