Sudbury Finance Committee elects Ferrari and Lynch co-chairs, approves $48,000 vocational transfer

SUDBURY — July 9, 2026 — Sudbury Finance Committee installs new co-chairs and closes a $48,000 vocational education gap. Members unanimously elected Michael Ferrari and Ryan Lynch as co-chairs for FY27, with Michael Joachim stepping aside after four years but staying on the committee. The 9-0 vote came alongside a $48,000 reserve fund transfer to cover a fiscal 2026 shortfall driven by higher vocational enrollment across Minuteman, Norfolk Aggie and Assabet Valley and a second contracted First Student bus. Town Finance Director Victor told members the FY27 vocational line is now set at $580,000 and warned of a projected $3 million FY28 deficit. Henry Sorett pressed for override choices presented "granularly" to voters; Eric Poch countered that the committee's role is evaluation, "full stop."
