Sudbury Finance Committee walks new members through operating rules

SUDBURY — August 22, 2022 — Sudbury Finance Committee reviews operating rules and weighs scope in onboarding session. Co-Chair Eric Poch led the Aug. 22 meeting, with a longtime member identified only as Susan walking newer members through the panel's procedures, voting rules and minority-report process. Member Henry P. Sorett said the committee has "a duty to be much more proactive when matters are coming before the town which raise large-scale financial risks," citing past Eversource power line disputes. Poch countered that "our role is clearly not operational" and any scope expansion would need to be worked out with the Select Board and town manager. A planned vote appointing member Colin as the Community Preservation Committee liaison was deferred because he was absent. The committee adjourned 5-0.
