Sudbury Finance Committee reviews revised FY25 guidance after certified new growth

SUDBURY — January 8, 2024 — Sudbury Finance Committee gets revised FY25 guidance as certified new growth nearly doubles to $1.7 million. Town Manager Andy Sheehan told members on Jan. 8 the post-certification update lifted Sudbury Public Schools guidance to 3.22 percent, Lincoln-Sudbury to 3.92 percent and the town side past 4 percent, with a $60-per-pupil Chapter 70 assumption credited to SPS and roughly $120,000 in additional ambulance-receipts use credited to the town. Finance Director Dennis said about $450,000 of the new growth went to in-levy capital, pushing capital within levy to roughly $1.7 million. Sheehan warned that employee benefits and insurance continue to rise faster than the 3 percent envelope, calling the structural picture unsustainable absent new revenue. Members declined to approve the Oct. 19 minutes after discovering inverted motion language on two SPS warrant articles. The committee meets again Jan. 22 to finalize its annual report.
