Finance Committee adopts 2023 annual report, previews eight CPC articles

SUDBURY — January 22, 2024 — Sudbury Finance Committee previews eight CPC articles totaling roughly $2 million for spring town meeting. The committee unanimously adopted its 2023 annual report as amended and heard from CPC liaison Colin that the committee closed a $90,000 overage by trimming $30,000 from administrative costs, dropping the Sudbury Housing Trust request from $400,000 to $380,000, and removing a $40,000 artesian well planned for Broadacre Farm. The recommended slate includes $600,000 for Bruce Freeman Rail Trail Phase 3 design, $450,000 for the Sudbury Housing Authority to convert two single-family homes into four affordable units, and roughly $56,000 over two years for Hop Brook water chestnut treatment. Member Henry P. Sorett questioned the rail trail design cost, saying "I'm not sure I want to spend that much money to design it." Co-Chair Michael Joachim said the committee meets Lincoln-Sudbury administration Jan. 29.
