Finance Committee · Meeting of August 20, 2026

SUDBURY — The Sudbury Finance Committee adopted amended rules on a 7-0 vote, with one member voting present, then reviewed a $4.5 million fiscal 2026 revenue surplus. Assistant Town Manager/Finance Director Victor Garofalo told the panel $1.3 million of that surplus was one-time tax title revenue and that the town has already raised fiscal 2027 estimates by $865,000, with another $750,000 increase planned for fiscal 2028. Member Ryan Lynch pressed Garofalo on whether the town's revenue estimates are "too conservative" after a $1.9 million overage the prior year.

Co-Chair Michael Ferrari said the town is "not going to avoid the big override eventually." Garofalo's tax-bill breakdown showed the average $16,670 bill sends $9,950, or 59.66 percent, to education. The committee also approved June 11 minutes and adjourned, both 8-0, and member Henry Sorett switched his liaison role from Lincoln-Sudbury to Sudbury Public Schools.
