Sudbury Finance Committee approves four sets of minutes, queues fall budget agenda
SUDBURY — September 16, 2024 — Sudbury Finance Committee uses Sept. 16 session to tee up HVAC, facilities and circuit-breaker questions for FY26. Co-Chair Michael Joachim walked members through Town Manager Andy Sheehan's Aug. 27 long-term budget slides ahead of Sheehan's own Sept. 30 appearance, telling member John Baranowsky that an override is "one possibility" but not a chosen path. Finance Director Victor Garofalo reported only $66,379.34 in unallocated ARPA funds remain after the Select Board reallocated money to cover cost overruns on the Curtis and Haynes school HVAC replacements. Members Ryan Lynch and Andrew Bettinelli reported the School Committee has asked SPS administrators for a quantitative case before considering whether to dissolve the roughly $170,000 combined-facilities-director MOA, with member Henry Sorett saying, "I don't mind paying for teachers, but I don't want to pay for bureaucrats." The committee voted 9-0 to approve four sets of minutes as amended.
