Sudbury CPC opens review of 13 applications seeking $3.1 million

SUDBURY — October 24, 2022 — Sudbury CPC opens review of 13 applications seeking $3.1 million against a $1.78 million budget. Chair Sherrill "Sherry" Cline and Vice Chair Kirsten Roopenian were re-elected by roll call as the committee began preliminary review of requests including $300,000 for the Bruce Freeman Rail Trail extension, $480,000 for a Curtis Middle School wellness space, $200,000 for Fairbank court fencing and lights, and roughly $900,000 for phase two of Feeley Field — a figure Cline called "a stunning amount of money" for two softball fields. Members pressed applicants for cost documentation, ADA-compliance details and conservation sign-offs, particularly on a $50,000 Broad Acres community garden well and on accessible pathway work tied to the town's ADA transition plan. The committee also approved a $114,500 administrative budget, below the roughly $138,300 statutory cap. Planning Director Adam Duchesneau told applicants every project "runs a risk of not getting support from the CPC."
