Sudbury Conservation Commission issues two wetlands orders, accepts third withdrawal

SUDBURY — July 11, 2022 — Sudbury Conservation Commission clears two wetlands permits and a 21-year-old compliance case in a half-hour meeting. Under Chair David Henkels, the commission unanimously issued orders of conditions for 4 Concord Way (DEP 301-1372) and Dawson Drive (DEP 301-1371), and accepted the withdrawal without prejudice of a notice of intent at 22 Bowditch Drive. Henkels pushed to require three growing seasons of plant establishment on the sensitive Dawson Drive site, but member Mark Sevier urged the standard approach: "I think it makes sense to have them go ahead, and then if we need to modify things later, we can adjust them." The commission also issued a certificate of compliance for 151 Dakin Road, tied to a 2001 post-fire reconstruction order, after Conservation Coordinator Lori flagged a fence wire-mesh gap violation and the long-standing use of pond dye and an aerator that she said had left the pond "a vibrant wetland." Homeowner Jane Santinelli told members snapping turtles climb the fence to reach the septic field to breed.
