Sewataro committee advances town-wide survey after public input session yields 195 ideas

Liberty Ledge_Sewataro Advisory Committee · Meeting of July 2, 2026

SUDBURY — Sewataro advisory committee moves toward town-wide survey as camp, housing, and RFP arguments sharpen. The Liberty Ledge-Sewataro Advisory Committee reviewed 195 use recommendations from its June 25 public input session, with Camp Sewataro operations receiving 25 first-priority votes and a weighted score of 156, more than six times the next category. Vivian Zeng, the town's director of health and community services, recommended automated chlorination on the four outdoor pools and a hardwired PA system for the bathing beach.

Resident Jeff Levine urged setting aside 15 to 25 percent of the 44 acres for age-restricted housing, estimating $6 million to $10 million in sales revenue. Resident Len Simon called the current lease a "structural deficit" of roughly $450,000 annually and pressed for a competitive RFP at the January renewal. Camp operator Scott Brody told the committee, "put us in, coach," on expanded programming.

Draft survey questions are due July 16.
