Select Board sends chair to salvage joint facilities pact with schools
SUDBURY — September 24, 2024 — Sudbury Select Board tries to save joint facilities pact before schools terminate it. The board voted 5-0 Tuesday to send Chair Jen Roberts into a four-way meeting with the SPS school committee chair, Superintendent Brad Crozier and Town Manager Andy Sheehan to keep the 2012 combined facilities director memorandum of agreement intact. Sheehan told members termination would shift roughly $143,000 a year onto the town budget — 50 percent of the facilities director's salary, 50 percent of an administrative assistant and 60 percent of an electrician. Combined Facilities Director Sandra Duran told the board her draft organizational plan "didn't get past the superintendent" and that she has been "told specifically that I cannot have anything to do with maintenance" on the SPS side. Member Janie Dretler reminded colleagues the consolidation was created by 2010 Town Meeting Article 16. The board also appointed Michael Hirschberg to the ZBA, Sam Marcus to CPC and Ashley Reeser to the Housing Trust.
