Select Board ratifies three-year contract with Town Manager Sheehan, 4-1

SUDBURY — June 11, 2024 — Sudbury Select Board ratifies Sheehan's new three-year contract 4-1 and shifts $645,000 to emergency culvert. Member Daniel Carty cast the only no vote on the town manager contract, effective July 1, while Chair Janie Dretler said Andrew Sheehan had received "very positive reviews from both the Select Board and staff." DPW Director Dan Nason told the board a sinkhole near 39 and 46 Washington Drive has eaten through the underlying pipe, threatening the only egress for about 18 homes, and that he is redirecting Article 20's townwide culvert appropriation to the emergency repair. Fire Chief John Whalen won unanimous approval to raise ambulance billing from Medicare plus 167 percent to Medicare plus 250 percent — the first increase since 2013 — projected to generate roughly $120,000, covering about half of recently negotiated firefighter raises. The board also unanimously adopted a streamlined flag policy and a revised purchase contracts policy lifting the town manager's contracting authority from $25,000 to $250,000.
