Select Board endorses most town meeting articles, splits on Parkinson Field driveway

SUDBURY — March 26, 2024 — Sudbury Select Board endorses $121.6M budget, splits 4-1 on Parkinson Field driveway design. Finance Committee Co-chairs Mike Joachim and Eric Poch told the board the panel backs the fiscal 2025 operating budget at a 5.06 percent increase and most of the roughly $5 million capital package, but voted 6-2 against the $100,000 CPA design article for the Parkinson Field driveway, mirroring a Capital Improvement Advisory Committee vote. Chair Janie Dretler and member Lisa Kouchakdjian pressed the committee to revisit the article in light of its role as future Bruce Freeman Rail Trail parking; member Daniel Carty cast the lone no vote when the board supported the article 4-1. Town Manager Andy Sherman warned that "fixed costs are rising faster than our revenue" and announced a $500,000 congressional earmark from U.S. Rep. Katherine Clark for a DPW storm emergency operations center. The board also approved transferring the Sudbury Craft Beer package store license from Gustavo Villatoro to Logos Craft Beer and Wine Inc., 5-0.
