Select Board continues Sudbury Sundries beer-and-wine license hearing to March 21
SUDBURY — March 7, 2023 — Sudbury Select Board defers gas station beer-and-wine license amid safety and conduct questions. The board voted 5-0 to continue the Sudbury Sundries hearing to March 21 after grilling owner Ashraf Yusuf about a 2013 bath salts arrest, prior tobacco violations and parking at 100 Boston Post Road; members requested a floor plan, insurance and TIPS training documentation. Town Manager Andy Sheehan disclosed that Police Chief Scott Nix "was not comfortable providing a recommendation," which member Dan Carty called a red flag. Separately, Sheehan presented a $116,240,880 fiscal 2024 budget — up 4.72 percent — balanced on a $745,460 Proposition 2½ school override, with town debt service rising 24 percent on Fairbank Community Center and Fire Station 2 borrowing. The board also announced Danielle Marini's hire as sustainability coordinator and voted 5-0 to back the Affordable Housing Trust and small wireless facilities bylaws for May town meeting.
