Planning Board approves DPW parking expansion, schedules firearms-zoning hearing
SUDBURY — March 22, 2023 — Sudbury Planning Board approves DPW parking, sets April hearing on citizens' firearms-zoning petition. Chair Stephen Garvin's board voted unanimously to approve a minor site-plan modification adding four parking spaces at the Department of Public Works site at 275 Lancaster Road, after Director of Planning Adam Duchesneau reported the screening white pines would stay and a security gate would remain open during business hours. The board scheduled a public hearing for April 12, with an option to continue to April 26, on a citizens' petition filed by ZBA member Frank Reap as a private citizen that would amend the zoning bylaw's use table on firearms. Vice-Chair John Sugrue, urging an education-first format for the planned MBTA Communities charrette, warned an open forum would "only end up being frustrating to people who attend, who don't understand the components of the legislation." Member Julie Zelermyer Perlman was tapped to consider filling the board's seat on a nine-member Housing Production Plan working group targeting a draft for state review by year-end.
