PBC authorizes up to $69,235 contract with Wakefield Moving for Fairbank move

SUDBURY — October 4, 2023 — Sudbury Permanent Building Committee authorizes up to $69,235 for Fairbank move with sole mover bid. The committee voted 5-0 to authorize Facility Director Sandra Duran and project manager Jennifer Pincus to finalize a contract with Wakefield Moving and Storage, the only respondent to the state-contract RFP, covering a $28,890 base move (three days, two trucks, ten movers), roughly $6,000 in packing supplies for an estimated 815 boxes, and recycling and disposal alternates. The authorization includes a $24,234 transfer from project contingency against the original $45,000 moving budget. Owner's project manager Chris reported permanent power was finally energized Tuesday, 27 working days late, but said general contractor Colantonio remains "non-committal" on a Dec. 14 building turnover. A decision on engaging repurposer IRN — estimated under $20,000 versus roughly $15,000 for recycling — was deferred to Oct. 19. "Purge, purge, purge, purge, and then purge some more," Chris said he has told building occupants.
