Park and Recreation Commission backs CPC design filings for Davis, Broadacres after pointed questions

SUDBURY — September 17, 2025 — Sudbury Park and Recreation flags surprise CPC design filings as commission chair pushes for process. Director Dennis Mannone told the Sept. 17 meeting he would file $122,000 and $214,000 Community Preservation Committee applications for Davis Field and Broadacres design work, both prepared by Gale Associates, before the Sept. 22 deadline. Chair Mara Huston said the projects had not been on any prior agenda; Mannone responded that "we have to have a design in order to have a discussion of exactly what's going to fit there." Assistant Town Manager Victor Garofalo confirmed a separate $300,000 CPC article for the Smile playground at Haskell, using "option 4" of layouts the commission reviewed last meeting. Combined Facilities Director Sandra Duran said Haskell bathroom cleaning has been increased to seven days a week through soccer season at $104 per week, drawn from the Field Enterprise Fund. The commission voted 4-0 to appoint Vice Chair Laurie Eliason as its liaison to the Sudbury Public Schools Committee.
