SUDBURY — The Sudbury Park and Recreation Commission voted 5-0 to reject a petition supporting CPA funding for sidewalks, after member Ryan Poteat cited a Norwood court ruling barring the use. Assistant Town Manager Victor presented a roughly $2.8 million schematic design for a three-field Davis Field renovation from consultant Gale Associates, including a 61-space parking lot planners say must grow to 80-90 spaces, $73,248 in bleachers, $28,000 in safety netting and a $368,000 contingency. Vice Chair Laurie Eliason said "shockingly, Ryan's convinced me to vote no" after initially backing the sidewalk petition.
No Davis Field vote was taken; Gale Associates will return revised parking and cost figures in October ahead of a Community Preservation Committee hearing expected December 9 and a possible May 2026 town meeting construction vote. The board separately approved August 17 minutes 4-0-1 and heard extended public comment split between dog-walkers defending the field's current open use and residents backing organized-sports expansion.
