LS School Committee condemns antisemitism, charges regional agreement review subcommittee

SUDBURY — February 25, 2025 — Lincoln-Sudbury committee unanimously condemns antisemitism and launches first regional agreement review since 1988. The LS Regional School Committee voted Feb. 25 to issue a statement that "strongly condemns antisemitism" after Chair Ravi Simon presented draft language; members Kevin Matthews and Lucy Maulsby pushed to strip framing that tied the condemnation narrowly to recent incidents. The panel separately voted to add Maura Carty as a third member of the Regional Agreement Review Subcommittee and charged the group with proposing "administerial, legal, and technical changes" to bring the 1988 document into compliance with state law. Superintendent/Principal Andrew Stephens said preliminary DESE outreach confirmed multiple provisions are out of compliance; any amendment would need both Town Meetings and DESE approval, targeting 2026. The committee also unanimously approved the competency determination for the Class of 2025.
