Sandy Crawford told the LS School Committee on May 23 that the 2023 student equity survey, with a 77.6 percent response rate, drew 91 percent affirmative responses on teacher expectations and on respectful treatment regardless of race or gender identity, and 87 percent on physical and emotional safety. Forty-seven students identified as transgender or non-binary, up from 22 in 2021, and answered less affirmatively on every item. Ginny Blake reported that 19 percent of LS students appeared on no LS club, activity or athletic roster in 2022-23. The committee unanimously approved a revised wellness policy presented by Director of Finance and Operations Christine.
