Lincoln-Sudbury committee picks Andrew Stevens as next superintendent-principal

SUDBURY — April 5, 2023 — Lincoln-Sudbury committee picks Lexington's Andrew Stevens 5-1 as next superintendent-principal. The Lincoln-Sudbury Regional District School Committee on April 5 elected Stevens, currently principal at Lexington High School, over Wellesley's Jamie Chisholm and Wayland's Allison Mizoguchi, then moved to appoint him effective July 1, 2023 subject to contract negotiations. Only member Cara Endyke Doran voted for Mizoguchi. Committee members cited Stevens' four-district experience — Newton South, Hull, Duxbury and Lexington — his doctorate, CAST leadership training and role in the Lexington High School building project. Candace Miller argued Lexington's roughly 2,400 students demonstrated readiness for a regional superintendency: "That is what I've been waiting to hear for so long in our community." Stevens accepted by phone during the meeting. Co-chair Heather Coop and search chair Kevin Matthews will lead negotiations with guidance from MASC's Glenn Koocher, targeting a signed contract by June 6. Stevens succeeds Bella Wong.
