Lincoln-Sudbury committee unveils 2024-25 school improvement goals, defers calendar vote

SUDBURY — August 28, 2024 — Lincoln-Sudbury committee opens school year with goals rollout and a 6:30 p.m. meeting-time shift. Superintendent/Principal Andrew Stephens presented 2024-25 school improvement goals to the Aug. 28 meeting built around connectedness, opportunity gaps, program review, and student and staff well-being, with "respecting human differences" as the year's core value of focus. Rachel Heckler of 96 Cutler Farm Road used public comment to read a letter from Class of 2026 families calling the limited number of AP sections a college-admissions disadvantage. Member Kevin Matthews pressed Stephens to make AP review a "requirement" of the school's nascent program-review process: "When something is put into an expectation, it tends to have more weight." Citing this year's teacher contract negotiations, the committee agreed to shift regular meeting start times from 7 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and approved minutes from June 11 and July 11 before adjourning to executive session.
