Historical Commission advances $142,000 in CPC funding requests

SUDBURY — October 18, 2022 — Sudbury Historical Commission advances $142,000 in CPC funding requests led by a $130,000 Hosmer House study. Chair Christopher Hagger's commission voted 7-0 on three motions to fill in TBD lines on its Community Preservation Committee applications: $12,000 for a Phase 5 inventory of roughly 24 structures and four area surveys, $110,000 for a combined Hosmer House historic-structure and cultural-landscape report, and $20,000 for a Hosmer House collections study. Consultant Peter Benton, the commission's preservation-plan author, sourced the $110,000 figure from a comparable Massachusetts firm's recent quote. CPC representative Jan Costa, citing review of all 13 submitted proposals, said the commission's were the only two with TBD figures. The commission also approved up to $800 to clean the Hosmer House before its December open house, scheduled an Oct. 26 site visit on a 328 Hudson Road demolition-delay application, and informally agreed to streamline minutes after member Diana Sebra said the commission had fallen out of open-meeting-law compliance: "I don't view this as a legal document."
