Historical Commission authorizes up to $1,150 for 30 commemorative town throws

SUDBURY — September 16, 2025 — Sudbury Historical Commission authorizes 30 new town throws and advances Hosmer House archivist RFP. The commission voted 7-0 September 16 to spend up to $1,150 from the E.B. Hosmer fund on 30 commemorative woven throws at a new wholesale price of $34, up from $30 in 2021, contingent on using the Planning Department's procurement card because sole-source vendor HOMTEC requires payment in advance. Members revised an archivist RFP budgeted at $36,000 plus $3,000 storage rental, structuring payments in three task-tied installments. Vice-Chair Michael Wallace, an attorney, advised town counsel to sign the MBTA's draft repair-access license for the South Sudbury train station and railroad section house only if it includes "a covenant" binding both parties to negotiate a long-term lease "in good faith." Member Jan Costa flagged that $15,038 remains unspent from the 2004 Revolutionary War Cemetery article and is exposed to a CPC sunset discussion underway this fall.
