Historic Districts Commission denies Concord Road cottage demolition

SUDBURY — November 8, 2024 — Sudbury Historic Districts Commission denies Concord Road cottage demolition and sends EV chargers back to the drawing board. Owner Danny Murphy told the commission Nov. 7 he had no budget to fix the inventoried 246 Concord Road outbuilding but conceded denial would not be a financial hardship; members Christopher Hagger, John (Griff) G Noble and Jordan voted 3-0 to deny, with Chair Anuraj Shah and Vice Chair Taryn Trexler recused. The commission also rejected the proposed location of five dual-port Autel chargers in front of Sudbury United Methodist Church at 251 Old Sudbury Road after four abutters from across the street objected, with Juliette Janowitz of 262 Old Sudbury Road citing an unmet 2016 condition requiring tree screening and telling members she had "zero confidence" promised landscaping would be installed. Hagger called the front-lot location "completely the wrong place." A 48-inch white vinyl daycare fence proposed by Megan Goud at the Presbyterian Church of Sudbury was also continued to Dec. 5; members objected to the material, height, and obstruction of views toward the Revolutionary War cemetery.
