Historic Districts Commission approves Hudson Road dormer redesign with proportion conditions
SUDBURY — October 5, 2023 — Sudbury Historic Districts Commission approves Hudson Road window redesign, sends Peakham Road barn dormers back for revision. The commission voted 4-0 on case 23-24, 29 Hudson Road, building one, approving Inkstone Architects project manager Rob Nafee's revised dormer with Marvin Ultimate Collection all-wood simulated divided light windows, conditioned on narrowing the dormer windows so each light matches the proportions of the floors below and on matching new gutters to the existing main-roof profile, field-painted to trim. Chair Anuraj Shah called the redesign "a big improvement, both aesthetically and functionally." On case 23-28, applicant Bob Green's symmetrical shed-dormer sketches for a new barn at 84 Peakham Road drew pushback; member Griff Noble said the design "almost is too symmetrical," and member Peter Iovanella suggested dropping the street-facing dormer. The case was continued 4-0 to Nov. 2.
