Former Superintendent's Severance Payout Surfaces in Report

A MetroWest Daily News report on former Superintendent Brad Crozier's separation payout landed alongside fresh figures showing Sudbury's community electricity program has saved residents millions, giving town finances a split spotlight on August 4.

TOWN HALL

The town's Community Electricity Aggregation program continues to outperform Eversource's standard rates, with Eversource increasing rates for the period running August 1, 2026 through January 31, 2027, according to a News Flash release from the town's energy office. The program leverages collective bargaining power to secure competitive electricity supply rates alongside clean energy options, town officials said.

The Fire Department issued a public safety advisory on lithium-ion battery fires, noting the hazard type is on the rise locally and nationally. The department urged residents to review safe charging and storage practices for devices with lithium-ion batteries.

The Select Board will hold office hours Wednesday, August 5, giving residents a chance to raise concerns directly with board members.

SCHOOLS

Sudbury Public Schools posted its School Committee agenda packet for the August 3 meeting, along with materials from the July 31 Budget Subcommittee session and an updated enrollment projection as of July 31. The district's Anti-Hate Anti-Bias Taskforce also met July 29, continuing a series of sessions the group has held through the summer.

A MetroWest Daily News report, cited via a Google Alert, states that former Sudbury Superintendent Brad Crozier received more than $150,000 in a two-part separation agreement, a story that had not previously appeared in town channels. According to the report, the total severance package amounted to $153,000.

At Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School, the district's summer news feed points families to start-up information for the 2026-2027 school year, including new teacher orientation days set for August 26 and 27 and a new-to-Sudbury student orientation on August 27.
