Sudbury Mourns Boy Killed By Falling Tree At Wayland Camp

Sudbury officials this week extended condolences to the family of a Sudbury child who died following an incident in Wayland, as WCVB and NBC Boston reported the victim was an 8-year-old Sudbury boy struck by a falling tree at a YMCA summer day camp on Tuesday.

TOWN HALL The Select Board and Town Manager's office issued a statement Wednesday extending "deepest condolences" to the family and loved ones of the Sudbury child who died following the incident in Wayland; the town's statement did not include further detail. WCVB and NBC Boston separately reported the boy was hurt at a YMCA day camp in Wayland on Tuesday and later died from his injuries.

The Town Clerk's office announced in-person early voting for the September 1 State Primary begins Saturday, August 22, at Town Hall. On primary day itself, all precincts will vote at the Fairbank Community Center, with polls open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The Finance Department announced Sudbury has received the Government Finance Officers Association's Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its fiscal 2027 town budget, a national honor recognizing the document's budgeting, planning and communication standards.

The town also previewed its 25th annual commemoration of the September 11 attacks, to be held Friday, September 11, at 8:30 a.m. at the September 11th Memorial Garden in Heritage Park, with parking available at Town Hall, a ceremony Sudbury Patch also covered today.
