Finance Committee rescinds Parkinson Field recommendation, finalizes FY25 warrant report

SUDBURY -- April 1, 2024, Sudbury Finance Committee rescinds Article 40 recommendation, finalizes FY25 warrant report. The committee voted 6-0-1 Monday to undo its earlier position on the CPA-funded Parkinson Field driveway design after Select Board pushback, with Mike abstaining; it will hear from Town Manager's office staffer Marsha Rasmussen and the Bruce Freeman Rail Trail Advisory Committee on April 8 before voting again. The bulk of the meeting was spent finalizing report language, with the committee adopting a unified methodology that includes benefits and OPEB but excludes debt, producing year-over-year increases of 4.38 percent for the town, 3.59 percent for SPS ($1.9 million) and 2.03 percent for Lincoln-Sudbury. Sudbury's share of the regional high school assessment fell to 87.31 percent. The estimated average residential tax bill rises $543, or 3.4 percent. Member Henry Sorett pushed the committee to oppose the MBTA Communities zoning articles and back Milton's SJC litigation; that debate was deferred to April 8.
