Finance Committee approves FY24 report and 12 CPA articles in three-hour session
SUDBURY — March 27, 2023 — Sudbury Finance Committee approves FY24 report and 12 CPA articles as both overrides pass at the ballot. The committee voted 8-0 to recommend its annual report after a line-by-line edit that added new language warning of "vigilant monitoring" required to manage debt-exclusion tax pressure from the Fairbank Community Center and Fire Station 2, with debt service projected to climb from roughly $2.24 million in FY24 to about $4 million from FY26 forward. Member Henry P. Sorett successfully inserted minority language on undeveloped SPS solar resources and on alternative school funding sources. The panel recommended $799,668 for Feeley Field phase two, $480,000 for the Curtis outdoor wellness space, $438,000 for the 67-73 Nobscott Road affordable-housing acquisition (7-1, Sorett opposed on policy grounds), and $35,000 for an indigenous cultural landscape study (6-2). Votes on SPS revolving funds, snow and ice, and two solar articles were deferred pending further information.
