Conservation Commission ratifies Lotus Blossom emergency septic certificate

SUDBURY — March 25, 2024 — Sudbury Conservation Commission ratifies emergency septic fix at Lotus Blossom and accepts wetlands restoration deal off Plantation Circle. Members unanimously ratified Conservation Coordinator Lori's emergency certificate authorizing the Lotus Blossom Restaurant at 394 Boston Post Road to replace its failed leach field after raw sewage surfaced in the parking lot, the third septic failure at the site in 20 years; the certificate runs 30 days. The commission also issued a negative determination for 36 Plantation Circle, where new owner Xiaohong Pei will plant 40 native shrubs to restore roughly 3,500 square feet of cleared land inside a 1997 conservation restriction, with two years of monitoring. Members voted to recommend Carl Freese, a former Appalachian Mountain Club finance staffer, as an associate member. Three Notices of Intent were continued without discussion to April 8 and April 29.
