Conservation Commission continues Nobscot trail hearing pending volunteer oversight plan

SUDBURY — October 31, 2022 — Sudbury Conservation Commission delays Nobscot scout reservation trail order over volunteer-oversight gaps. The commission continued the notice of intent and stormwater hearing for the 250-acre Mayflower Council property to Nov. 14, demanding a written training, monitoring and invasive-species plan before issuing conditions tied to last year's enforcement order. Engineer James Downing said Lucas Environmental would manage invasives within five feet of disturbed zones; Conservation agent Lori countered that 15 feet was the minimum, plus a separate site-wide plan as violation mitigation. Peer reviewer Janet Bernardo of Horsley Witten flagged crushed stone in wetland crossings as a permanent, not temporary, impact. "We just want to get this done once and do it right," Downing told members. The commission separately accepted Eversource's snow-removal plan for DEP file 301-1287 and issued an order of conditions for 102 Barton Drive.
