Conservation Commission backs CPA bids for Feeley Field and Hop Brook plan

SUDBURY — November 28, 2022 — Sudbury Conservation Commission endorses CPA funding for Feeley Field drainage and a $75,000 Hop Brook watershed plan. At its Nov. 28 virtual meeting, the commission backed Parks and Recreation Director Dennis Mannone's slit-drain proposal for the perennially wet softball diamond and Hop Brook Protection Association President Jeff Winston's request to hire Comprehensive Environmental Inc. for a watershed-based plan, with OARS oversight. Board member Glenn Pransky said the brook is "loaded with nutrients, especially phosphorus" from the former East Marlborough wastewater plant. The commission also closed hearings and issued an order of conditions and stormwater permit for the Mayflower Council's 1 Nobscot Road trail restoration — roughly 54,391 square feet of disturbance with no net new impervious surface — and ratified a 60-day emergency certification for fire-debris cleanup at Cavicchio Greenhouses on Codjer Lane, with restoration planting due by June 1, 2023.
