ZBA approves Partridge Lane chicken coop, continues BMW signs and Hollow Oak addition

SUDBURY — September 11, 2023 — Sudbury ZBA approves a Partridge Lane chicken coop and releases Avalon Bay's $50,000 Meadow Walk bond. The board voted 5-0 to grant Natalia Rumberg a one-year special permit for up to six chickens at 15 Partridge Lane after she secured a Board of Health variance from the 50-foot setback and written clearance from U.S. Fish and Wildlife refuge officer Wilson Acuna for the abutting federal land. Town Engineer Bill O'Rourke's inspection of Meadow Walk found landscaping, screening and dark-sky-compliant lighting in compliance — "one dead plant" was the only flag — and the board released Avalon Bay's $50,000 performance bond. Cases for Herb Chambers BMW signage at 68 Old County Road and a roughly 1,000-square-foot addition at 32 Hollow Oak Drive were continued to Oct. 2; Chair John Gossels and member Frank Riepe pressed both applicants on missing dimensional documentation, with Riepe warning he could not approve signs without proof they matched the 2009 permit.
