Sudbury schools subcommittee sets bus RFP structure, superintendent search timeline
SPS School Committee Budget Subcommittee · Meeting of July 31, 2026
Sudbury schools budget subcommittee sets bus RFP structure and eyes $50,000 superintendent search. Meeting July 31, the subcommittee endorsed a conventional three-plus-one-plus-one pupil transportation RFP issued through METCO Inc., with language allowing routes to be added or subtracted mid-contract so that grants from the MassCEC advisory engagement could support phased electrification. The interim finance official told members Sudbury is "only going to get one response" and warned that a shorter contract would raise first-year prices.
He will circulate a draft superintendent search RFP, budgeted at roughly $50,000 and structured as a targeted solicitation under Chapter 30B rather than a full public RFP, ahead of the August 17 full committee meeting. Finance Director Jennifer Doucette said year-end encumbrances of about $487,000 fell to roughly $68,000 after July 13 payments. The district received about $1.3 million in circuit breaker for fiscal 2027 use and spent $965,366 in fiscal 2026.
