FY28 Budget Working Group · Meeting of August 31, 2026

Sudbury's FY28 Budget Working Group cut a projected $1.9 million deficit to roughly $600,000 using reserves and one-time revenue. Finance presenter Victor said the gap fell from $3 million in June to $1,925,372 after $650,000 in new revenue and a $1,074,632 net adjustment, with Sudbury Public Schools requesting a 4.48 percent increase and Lincoln-Sudbury projecting about 3 percent. The group floated using $500,000 in free cash for OPEB, $500,000 from the Capital Stabilization Fund, and $325,000 from solar and Community Preservation Act funds, leaving a $600,000 shortfall for expense cuts.

Member Jack warned the plan "is not a sustainable model," citing aging school HVAC systems. No votes were taken; the group meets next September 23.
