Sudbury Issues Extreme Heat Advisory, Transfer Station Closes July 4
With a heat emergency prompting a public health advisory and a holiday weekend ahead, Sudbury residents face a busy few days of planning — from staying cool to adjusting their trash runs.

Sudbury's Health Department issued an extreme heat advisory Tuesday, urging residents to take precautions as dangerous temperatures move through the region. The town's guidance emphasizes that prevention is the best strategy: residents should stay hydrated, limit outdoor activity during peak afternoon hours, check on elderly neighbors, and identify cool spaces to shelter in if needed. Also from the Department of Public Works: the Sudbury Transfer Station will be closed on Friday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day. Normal hours — 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., with Put & Take closing a half-hour earlier — resume after the holiday.

The Sudbury Senior Center enters July with updated summer hours in effect through September 30: Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Tuesday 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and Friday 9 a.m. to noon. The center will be closed Friday, July 3, in observance of Independence Day.
Registration for Summer I fitness classes opened to Sudbury residents Monday, June 29, and to non-residents today, Tuesday, June 30. Those classes begin the week of July 6. Registration for non-fitness July activities opens to Sudbury residents on Wednesday, July 1, and to non-residents on Thursday, July 2.
