Sudbury Historic Districts Commission conditionally approves jewelry store redesign on Concord Road
SUDBURY — March 2, 2023 — Sudbury Historic Districts Commission recommends new member and reshapes a Concord Road storefront. Chair Anuraj Shah, Vice Chair Taryn Trexler and member Christopher Hagger voted 3-0 on March 2 to recommend John "Griff" Noble for the vacant full seat and Peter Iovanella as associate, sending both to the Select Board. The panel approved, with conditions, a jewelry store expansion at 5 Concord Road designed by Offshoots architects Rita Constantinidis and Michael Samra, requiring three stainless-steel trellises roughly 8 feet by 16 feet planted with Sudbury-native species, a new pilaster, and removal of one decorative pediment to break up a long blank east facade. Samra said windows are "a liability" for a jewelry store. The commission continued a Boston Solar application for 49 Carriageway until homeowner Roger Gudarzi returns in April with a shed design to screen a 15-by-30-foot ground-mounted array.
