Sudbury CPC takes testimony on four FY2024 projects worth $1 million

SUDBURY — December 7, 2022 — Sudbury's Community Preservation Committee heard four FY2024 requests totaling about $1.05 million at its Dec. 7 hearing. Park and Recreation Director Dennis Mannone asked for roughly $900,000 to install sand-slit drainage and irrigation at Feeley Field — a number that drops to about $689,477 without irrigation — telling the committee the lower softball fields are routinely unplayable into late April. Hop Brook Protection Association's Jeff Winston requested $75,250 to commission a watershed-based plan from Bolton firm CEI, with OARS providing oversight, calling the document the "cost of admission" for state and federal cleanup grants. Lynn Perrault sought $25,000 to digitize roughly 2,000 DVDs of Sudbury TV's archive to the Internet Archive, and resident Brett Valerio asked for $50,000 to drill an artesian well for a proposed 60-plot community garden at Broad Acres, which Conservation Coordinator Lori Capone offered to co-sponsor. Chair Sherrill Cline said the committee's third and final hearing is set for Dec. 21.
