Sudbury CPC advances $1.7 million in warrant articles to spring town meeting

SUDBURY — January 4, 2023 — Sudbury CPC advances roughly $1.7 million in warrant articles and rejects a resident community garden. The Community Preservation Committee, chaired by Sherrill Cline, unanimously approved $799,668 for Phase 2 of the Frank Feeley Field Park improvements, including in-ground irrigation, with Park and Recreation contributing $100,000 from Meadow Walk mitigation funds. Members split the Sudbury Housing Trust ask into two articles — $292,000 for the home preservation program and $438,000 contingent on a state endangered-species determination at 67-73 Nobscot Road. The committee also approved $130,000 for a Hosmer House cultural landscape study, $35,000 for an Indigenous Cultural Landscape Study, and $78,600 for a Hopbrook watershed plan. A $50,000 community garden at Broad Acres failed unanimously, with member Kirsten Roopenian saying the project "needs to perk a little bit more." A town counsel opinion concluded that Sudbury TV's digitization project does not fall "within the four corners of the CPA legislation," according to planning director Adam Duchesneau.
