Sudbury Conservation Commission orders Moore Road fence relocated after unpermitted clearing

SUDBURY -- October 20, 2025, Sudbury Conservation Commission tells Moore Road homeowners to move an unpermitted fence or justify keeping it. The commission continued the 87 Moore Road notice of intent to Nov. 3 after Conservation Coordinator Lori Capone told members roughly 2,000 square feet within the 200-foot riverfront area was cleared without a permit and is now 90 percent buckthorn. Contractor Ben Maiden of Confido Builders said Lynch Landscape had proposed 18 native plantings; Vice-Chair Kenneth Holtz called that "pretty inadequate" for the disturbed footprint. Member Mark Sevier said he saw no "compelling reason that the pen stay where it is aside from the cost of moving it." Capone recommended three years of hand-pulled invasive removal plus two growing seasons of plantings before any certificate of compliance. The commission also issued a certificate of compliance at 38 Robert Frost Lane, where 40 shrubs replaced 29 removed trees, and approved a Sudbury Valley Trustees beaver pond-leveler at Memorial Forest.
