Sudbury Conservation Commission approves Concord utility line and DPW drainage upgrades

SUDBURY — October 17, 2022 — Sudbury Conservation Commission clears Concord-bound utility line over DPW objections. The commission on Oct. 17 issued a negative determination for Quarry North Road LLC to install conduit along Route 117 serving six future homes across the Concord line, after attorney William Henschey said Concord Municipal Light Plant "has a monopoly" requiring buried lines. DPW Director Dan Nason warned long duct banks "really limits us in any future capacity" for drainage or sewers; the compromise routes conduit overhead on new Eversource poles with one road crossing. Member Kathleen Rogers called the situation "a bit absurd." The commission also approved DPW drainage improvements at Peakham and Concord roads — adding deep-sump catch basins to pretreat runoff to Hop Brook — and issued a full certificate of compliance for 137 Mossman Road.
