Sudbury capital committee pushes back on compressed January review window

SUDBURY — October 17, 2022 — Sudbury's Capital Improvement Advisory Committee pushed back on a Jan. 31 submission deadline that leaves it roughly two weeks to vet town capital requests. Chair Susan Asbedian-Ciaffi asked new Combined Facilities Director Sandra Duran, who started May 31, to seek an earlier handoff of department capital project forms, ideally in November or early December. "How can we review the stuff in 15 days?" member Tom Travers said, citing past projects that became warrant articles before the committee had finished its work. Duran said several pending requests fall in the six-figure range and that the town's five-year capital plan has not yet been updated. The committee approved March 2 minutes 3-0 with Travers abstaining, tabled officer elections until two vacant seats are filled, agreed to interview lone applicant Peter at its Nov. 16 meeting, and blocked off Wednesdays in January and February for review.
