Sudbury CIAC reviews $9.9M in pending capital requests before Feb. 24 Capital Night

SUDBURY — February 10, 2025 — Sudbury capital committee reviews roughly $9.9 million in FY26 requests before Capital Night. The Capital Improvement Advisory Committee walked through articles led by Combined Facilities Director Sandra Duran on Feb. 10, including a $3.53 million full roof replacement at Haynes and a $2.755 million partial roof at Nixon under the MSBA accelerated repair program, which reimburses 31 to 41 percent. A $428,298 supplemental for the Atkinson Pool drew the sharpest pushback from member Thomas Travers, who questioned whether the town should keep investing as bids came in higher than expected — Duran said she was "pretty hopeful that would be the last ask" before bids opened. Members also flagged a $125,000 match for a $500,000 federal Emergency Operations Center earmark from Sen. Katherine Clark's office, with Duran estimating ultimate project cost at $2 to $2.5 million. Select Board liaison Lisa Kouchakjian confirmed a proposed bylaw amendment raising the CIAC review threshold to $500,000 originated with the town manager.
