Capital committee previews May warrant as Atkinson pool returns to bid

SUDBURY — December 16, 2024 — Sudbury Capital Improvement Advisory Committee gets project-by-project preview as Atkinson pool heads to rebid Dec. 18. Combined Facilities Director Sandra Duran told the committee Dec. 16 that the $2.235 million pool renovation will advertise Dec. 18 with bids due Jan. 22, and that a post-town-meeting request to replace destratification fans with full interior ducting will likely require a supplemental appropriation. Duran said the Fairbank Community Center's acoustic defect — interior walls that stop short of the rafters in a building whose attic sprinkler system cannot be resized — will be corrected for roughly $250,000 from project contingency, and that the town will not pursue the architect because "a claim would be very expensive." The Curtis Middle School AV article was supplemented by a $62,647 Massachusetts Office on Disability grant; about $35,000 remains. Of 672 identified ADA barriers, 173 have been cleared. Chair Matt Dallas set Monday evening meetings on Feb. 3, Feb. 10 and Feb. 24.
