Sudbury capital committee endorses three Town Meeting articles, tables intersection

SUDBURY — September 27, 2023 — Sudbury capital committee endorses three fall Town Meeting articles, holds on $800,000 intersection request. The Capital Improvement Advisory Committee voted 7-0 for $100,000 in Atkinson Pool design, 6-0-1 for $900,000 to replenish Fairbanks Community Center contingency, and 7-0 for $248,000 in Nixon School roof design. Facilities Director Sandra told members the Fairbanks project has only $66,863 in contingency against $10 million in remaining work after $1.1 million in approved and $707,000 in pending change orders. Member Thomas Travers abstained on Fairbanks, saying he wanted an itemized exposure list before Town Meeting: "It's okay to say, I see $500,000 worth of exposure type items." The $800,000 Mossman Road and Route 117 article from Public Works Director Dan Mason was tabled to October 11 pending design details. Select Board Chair Janie Dretler said her board held its votes on Articles 6, 7 and 11 pending CIAC's recommendations.
