Sudbury Board of Health appoints two health agents, advances revolving-fund warrant article

SUDBURY — December 18, 2024 — Sudbury Board of Health appoints two agents and advances a Public Health Excellence revolving fund. With Chair Carol Bradford absent, members Linda Huet-Clayton and Susan Sama unanimously appointed Sean Jeffrey, the new regional public health inspector who started Dec. 9, and state hub trainer Felix Garcia as town health agents for three years, as inspector Rob Lazo departs. The board also unanimously voted to submit a 2025 Annual Town Meeting warrant article, drafted with Treasurer Victor Garofalo, establishing a revolving fund — effective fiscal 2026 — to capture Sudbury's 15 percent overhead on roughly $447,000 in annual Public Health Excellence Grant money the town receives as fiscal agent for the seven-town Great Meadows Public Health Collaborative. Health Director Vivian said Sudbury has "had to return significant unspent grant funds to the state" without the mechanism. New regional substance use prevention coordinator Olivia Dufour, funded through pooled opioid-abatement settlement dollars, was also introduced.
