Sudbury Board of Health advances regional vaccine hub for shelter children

SUDBURY — February 5, 2024 — Sudbury Board of Health advances regional vaccine hub for migrant shelter children. At its Feb. 5 meeting, the board reviewed a draft memorandum of understanding under which Sudbury would order state-supplied childhood vaccines for roughly 200 children housed in shelters in Bedford and Concord, with six partner communities signing on. Town counsel has returned the MOU with edits and the other six health directors are being asked to sign. Member Carol J. Bradford will present a Narcan policy and protocol to the School Committee on March 4 following K-8 nurse trainings in January. The board also retired the tobacco permit of Cigar One Inc., doing business as Victory, after the establishment failed to renew by Dec. 31, 2023 and did not respond during a 30-day grace period, reducing the town's count from eight to seven. The revolving account cap was raised to $50,000 to preserve flexibility for a possible COVID clinic, and the director noted a Boston Globe report that "92 percent of municipalities" have not yet spent opioid settlement funds.
